Shari's Raises $125,000 For Boys and Girls Clubs
Beaverton, Oregon – 8/02/07 - Shari's Family Restaurants broke another record with the twelfth
annual "Grip It & Rip It" charity golf tournament. The final total from this year's fundraising tournament was $125,000
donated to continue the work of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland.
"The Boys and Girls Clubs do a great job supporting the children of our communities, and Shari's is proud of the partnership
we've built to help with their efforts," said David Archer, Shari's Vice President of Marketing. "Our goal is to
raise a dollar more each year than the previous tournament, but this year we were able to raise thousands more thanks to the generous
support of our vendors and friends."
Since 1946, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland has been providing thousands of young people throughout the Portland metro area with affordable,
high-quality after-school and summer programs designed to help them develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.
The Clubs offer kids what they want the most: safe, clean, fun places to go when they're not in school; caring adults who respect and
guide them; and challenging programs that teach them life skills and keep them engaged in productive activities.
The single day event starts with a morning golf tournament for Shari's participants, followed by an afternoon round of golf for the
Boys and Girls Club supporters, with a shared BBQ lunch. The event is held each year at the beautiful Langdon Farms course in Aurora, Oregon.
