Shari’s Welcomes MacDiarmid as New President

(Beaverton, Oregon - 6/10/08):

Shari’s Restaurants announce the appointment of Bruce MacDiarmid as Chief Executive Officer of the 24-hour family dining chain. He comes to Shari’s from the President/COO position at Black Angus Steakhouse.

“Bruce is an experienced restaurateur who understands the unique aspects of this business,” said outgoing President and CEO Larry Curtis, who will retire the end of June after 24 years with Shari’s. “We believe his abilities will help build upon the success we’ve enjoyed at Shari’s over its 30 year history.”

This transition in leadership happens as Shari’s ramps up for another wave of growth. Two new locations are currently under construction in Idaho, which will put the chain at 100 units. Two additional units will open before the end of the year in Oregon, with another 5 to 8 locations in the works for 2009.

Larry Curtis joined Shari’s Restaurants when the chain had 24 units. Under his leadership, Shari’s has expanded into six states, establishing itself as the largest full-service restaurant chain based in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Curtis will continue to consult with Shari’s as a Board Advisor.

Bruce MacDiarmid joins Shari’s with extensive experience in the restaurant industry. In addition to Black Angus Steakhouse, he has held positions at Chevys Fresh Mex Restaurants as well as with the Paragon Restaurant Group, whose concepts included Carlos Murphy’s, Rusty Pelican and Hungry Hunter.
